Home-Based ABA Therapy: The Benefits

Therapy provided in the natural environment will allow the child the opportunity to use and master the skills acquired through therapy. This will help facilitate generalization.

Behavior issues in the home can be observed directly and can be addressed where and when the behaviors are occurring.

Parents will have the opportunity to be more involved in their child’s therapy and progress. This knowledge and involvement with their child’s program enables them to manage behavioral issues with procedures that give results.

Siblings or neighborhood children can participate in teaching and reinforcing social skills and play skills.

Home-Based ABA Therapy allows parents different options and plans which can make therapy more cost effective and convenient.

Setting up a Home-Based ABA Therapy Program:

In addition to its center-based ABA programs, Children’s Center for Development & Behavior (CCDB) offers three different home-based therapy programs to match your individual preferences and personal budget. All programs begin with a formal intake and a developmental assessment.

Tier One: (CCDB therapist)

  • CCDB provides training for parents
  • CCDB therapists implement the home program
  • CCDB provides supervision of therapist
  • CCDB monitors the child’s progress and modifies program as needed

Tier Two: (Parent recruited therapist)

  • CCDB provides training for parents and therapist recruited by parents
  • Parents and/or recruited therapist implements program
  • CCDB provides supervision of recruited therapist and/or parent
  • CCDB monitors the child’s progress and modifies program as needed

Tier Three: (CCDB/parent recruited therapist)

  • CCDB provides training for parents and therapist
  • Program implemented by a combination of CCDB therapist, recruited therapist and/or parent
  • CCDB provides supervision of therapist(s) and/or parent
  • CCDB monitors the child’s progress and modifies programs as needed

The most effective and successful home-based therapy program begins with an assessment of the child’s developmental functioning in a variety of developmental domains. The resulting profile will depict the child’s strengths and weaknesses in different areas of behavior and development.

Once a behavior specialist completes the required assessment, you will receive a detailed therapeutic program identifying levels of functioning and specific interventions to address these deficits.

A senior member of our clinical team will periodically monitor and supervise the child’s current level of functioning in comparison with the program goals established during the assessment process.

Regular Supervision is the key to a successful home program and assures that existing goals are mastered. New goals are introduced into the child’s individual therapy program.

This information is utilized to develop a customized program to address, modify and correct developmental skill deficits and implement procedures in order to accelerate the child’s skills so that they may more closely resemble the skills of their age-related peers.

Supervision and program modification is the key

Being able to understand behavioral procedures, program goals and implementation techniques are essential to any home-based therapy program.

Our senior behaviorl analyst will provide an orientation and introduction to CBAM model and implementation. Hands-on training will also be provided to family members and therapists involved in implementing CBAM home-based therapy.
